Accessibilty & Outside Information One of the last remaining unspoilt fishing villages, Ferragudo enjoys all the traditions that the Algarve has to offer. Ferragudo is a wedding cake confection of narrow cobbled sreets and steps. Whether sitting having a drink in the Square whilst watching the old fishermen trading tales from the high seas, or simply relaxing on the uncrowded golden beaches, Ferragudo offers a peaceful haven from the stresses of modern life.
Behind the Square in Ferragudo lies a labyrinth of old cobbled alleyways meandering up the hill to the towns church from where panoramic views extend over the estuary to the famous 17 century fort.
A selection of fine seafood restaurants line the Ferragudo harbour front often visited by the rich and famous who moor up their boats in the harbour and pop in for a spot of lunch. Here you can watch your chosen seafood prepared and cooked on an open barbeque whilst watching the local fishermen bringing home their catch of the day. These restaurants are situated in a super position to sit and watch the beautiful evening sunset over Portimao whilst enjoying a glass of chilled local wine.
If you decide to explore the area the resorts of Portimao and Praia de Rocha can be reached by water taxi in the summer months from the quayside. The popular towns of Lagos, Carvoeiro and Silves are just a short journey away.
Beach & Coast Ferragudo is renowned for its sandy beach retreats. They are secluded with their own cliff top walks.
Praia Grande - This is the longest beach in Ferragudo, stretching along the rivers edge and overlooking the marina of Praia da Rocha on the opposite side of the River Arade.
Praia Pintadinho - This beautiful, secluded cliff edge beach is popular with the local fishermen who fish from the clifftop.
Praia Canarais - Another beautiful, secluded beach, which is enclosed by high cliffs.
